Isaac Fremont Doubles Champion
Isaac Hinze, a senior to be on the McCook tennis team, earned some hardware at the USTA sponsored First State Bank tournament in Fremont last weekend. In singles play, Isaac placed third earning him a third place medal. Isaac defeated Justin Ye of Millard West in his opening round 6-1, 6-1. He advanced to the quarterfinals where he defeated Andrew Nelson of Elkhorn South 2-6, 6-4, 10-7. In the semifinals Isaac was beaten by Jackson Miller of Lincoln Southeast 8-9 (2-7). He then defeated Quintin Shaffer 8-4 to earn his third place medal.
Isaac teamed up with Markus Rutledge of Lincoln Southwest to take top honors in doubles play. The duo defeated Kade Schrock and Quintin Shaffer 8-3 in their opening match. In their second match they defeated Justin Ye and Kuper Fletcher of Millard West 8-4. In their final match they defeated Andrew Nelson of Elkhorn South and Ian Lewis of Papio South.
Isaac opened his summer tennis season in Omaha May 14-16. He will continue a bust schedule with a trip to Keanrey this weekend, a visit to Grand Island June 12/13. A return trip to Kearney June 19-20 and then heads to Lincoln June 26-27. In July Isaac is scheduled to compete in Fremont July 9-11 and July 17-18. He will then be in Lincoln July 22-23 for the Cornhusker state games and wraps up the summer July 31-July 1 in Grand Island.
