Arrest Made After Shooting in Kimball

(Kimball, NE) — Investigators with the Nebraska State Patrol have arrested a Kimball motel owner following a shooting at the motel Tuesday.
Tuesday afternoon, the Kimball Police Department was called to the report of a shooting at the Finer Motel, at 4306 East Highway 30 in Kimball. Upon arrival, authorities located a male subject with multiple gunshot wounds. The victim was transported to Regional West Medical Center in Scottsbluff with what are believed to be non-life-threatening injuries.
The Kimball Police Department requested that the Nebraska State Patrol handle the investigation. After a preliminary investigation, NSP has arrested the motel’s owner, Leota Kant, 86, of Kimball, for attempted murder, use of a weapon to commit a felony, and discharging a weapon within city limits. The victim had been staying at the motel.
Kant was lodged Tuesday evening in Garden County Jail. The investigation remains ongoing.
