15-Month Old Child Found in Ditch in Adams County

The Adams County Sheriff’s Department is investigating a critical incident that occurred on October 4, 2025 after a passerby located an 15-month-old child in a ditch near the 2000 blk of South Marian Rd, in rural Adams County.

At approximately 8:01 am, Deputies were dispatched to the scene after a concerned citizen reported finding what appeared to be an infant sitting in a ditch. Upon arrival, officers summoned Hastings Fire and Rescue. Paramedics responded and immediately assessed the child. The child was transported to Mary Lanning Hospital for further medical evaluation and care. 

A criminal investigation has been launched to determine the facts of this case and identify the individual(s) responsible.

The Adams County Sheriff’s Department is being assisted in the investigation by the Nebraska State Patrol, Hastings Police Department and the Department of Health and Human Services.
