December Traffic Fatality Toll

Jan. 16, 2025 (Lincoln, Neb.) — During the month of December 2024, seventeen people were killed in traffic crashes on Nebraska roadways, according to data collected by the Nebraska Department of Transportation.

These 17 fatalities occurred in 16 fatal crashes. Six of the sixteen vehicle occupants killed were not using seatbelts, three were using a seatbelt, and seven had seatbelt usage marked as unknown.

Eleven of the fatalities were in rural locations*.

There was one fatality on the interstate, seven on other highways, and nine on local roads. One of the fatalities was a motorcyclist.  For the daily count, visit this website: ndot.info/tollcompare

There were 19 fatalities in December of 2023. Only 56 of the 194 vehicle occupants killed during 2024 were using seatbelts.
