Former McCook Community College Volleyball Standout Audrey Holm Signs with Doane
McCook Community College sophomore Audrey Holm signed a national letter of intent Monday to continue her volleyball career next year at Doane University in Crete.
“Doane is a really good opportunity for me,” said Holm. “It’s close to home, I know people there and I’m excited about their program. It just felt right.”
Holm, a 5-8 right-side hitter from Paxton High School, played in 35 matches for the Lady Indians. She had 48 kills, 48 digs, 20 blocks and 19 service aces in her career.
“From the very beginning Audrey was a player that came in and got to work, put her head down and was strictly business,” said MCC Coach Hayley Kobza. “She was a really great leader for us this year, she was one of our captains and led her team well and not just on the court.”
Earlier this semester Holm was named one of three MCC female student athlete finalists for the Holly Myers Female Teammate of the Year. She was nominated the volleyball team’s top teammate of the year for having the attributes required to be a good teammate.
She was named to the 2024-2025 Academic All-Region IX Women’s team and was also selected to the NJCAA All-Academic Third team for student-athletes with grade-point averages between 3.6 and 3.79.
She was named to the Dean’s List in both semesters of her freshman year for students with grade-point averages between 3.50 and 3.89.
The MCC science major, will finish up with classes this week and will enroll at Doane next month where she’ll be a pre-physical therapy major.
She said McCook really grew on her and she’ll miss the community.
“Especially the adoptive student program and all the people I’ve met through church,” she said.
“I know she wanted to stay close to home and Doane is a great fit for her,” said Kobza. “She’ll do great things there.”
