Fort Kearny hike/bike trail to close for construction

Fort Kearny State Recreation Area’s hike/bike trail will close temporarily Dec. 1 for a construction project.
The project will replace the decking and add more viewing platforms on the trail’s south bridge.
The trail will close from the SRA to Kilgore Road.
The estimated completion date is Feb.1, 2026. Funding is provided in part due to a Recreational Trails Program grant and Capital Maintenance Funds, which were established by the Nebraska Legislature to help preserve Nebraska’s public outdoor recreation facilities and parklands.
