After a pair of 20-point efforts, Nebraska’s Braden Frager was named Big Ten Conference Freshman of the Week on Monday. The 6-foot-7 forward from Lincoln Southwest averaged 21.5 points per game on 59 percent shooting, including 50 percent from 3-point range, and 3.5 rebounds per game in Nebraska’s two wins.

It is the third time that Frager has won the weekly award, which is the most by a Husker since Bryce McGowens was an eight-time weekly honoree in 2021-22.  Frager has been one of the sparks to Nebraska’s 18-0 record and program-best No. 7 AP ranking this week, averaging 12.7 points per game on 53 percent shooting.

Frager set a career high with 23 points and tied a school freshman mark with seven 3-pointers in Nebraska’s 90-55 win. His seven 3-pointers were one shy of the school mark, as he added three rebounds and a steal in helping the Huskers to their largest victory margin in a conference game since 1994.

He continued his stellar week in the Huskers 77-58 win at Northwestern, finishing with 20 points on 8-of-14 shooting and adding four rebounds in 32 minutes. It marked Frager’s fourth 20-point game of the year, all in a reserve role, as Nebraska improved to 4-0 on the road in the Big Ten, matching its longest road win streak in conference play in more than 80 years.

The Huskers return to action Wednesday night when Nebraska hosts Washington. Tipoff at PBA is set for 8 p.m. and the game will be carried on BTN and the Huskers Radio Network.
