Kaliyah St. Amand named Player of the Week

 McCook Community College freshman Kaliyah St. Amand has been named the Region IX Player of the Week for the week of April 14-April 20.

The Duncan, British Columbia pitcher went 2-0 in MCC’s weekend sweep over Trinidad State College with 18 strikeouts and a 0.58 earned run average. She went five innings in MCC’s 14-1 win on Friday allowing five hits, and one earned run on one walk and seven strikeouts. On Saturday she tossed a seven-inning two-hit shutout, walking two and strikeout out 11 hitters as MCC won 6-0.

St. Amand has started 15 games this season for the Lady Indians with a 14.2 record and a 2.48 ERA. She has struck out 122 hitters in 104 innings, allowing 29 walks and 97 hits.

She leads all Region IX pitchers with her 14 wins and is second in ERA, trailing only teammate Sadie Kahl (2.29). She is also second in strikeouts. Offensively she is batting .447 on the season (fourth in Region IX) with six doubles, one home run and 22 RBIs in the 38 games she’s appeared as a batter.
