HUTCHINSON, Kan. – The McCook Community College volleyball team split a pair of matches Friday in the Blue Dragon Classic at Hutchinson. MCC dropped the first match to hosts 3-1 and came back to beat Iowa Western 3-2.

The Blue Dragons came out and dominated the Lady Indians in the first set of the day.

“We got started off a little rough in our first match against Hutch, and we just couldn't minimize our mistakes,” said MCC Coach Hayley Kobza. “We then played again right after and competed well.”

MCC goes to 12-4 on the season and will continue play in the tournament Saturday taking on Missouri State University-West Plains (11-4) at 10 a.m. and Butler Community College (8-9) at noon.

“We played volleyball for pretty much a straight five hours,” said Kobza. “We are going to get a solid night’s rest and reset for tomorrow.”

The Lady Indians return home Tuesday to face North Platte in a 6 p.m. match at the Peter and Dolores Graff Events Center.
