McCook Community College Volleyball

GAINESVILLE, Texas – An understaffed McCook Community College volleyball team split a pair of matches Friday at the first day of the North Central Texas College Invitational Tournament.

After dropping a 3-0 decision to Panola College the Lady Indians came back to sweep Dallas College-Brookhaven 3-0.

“We didn’t come out ready to play in our first match,” said MCC Coach Hayley Kobza. “It was a rough start in the match and we just never could get the fire lit after that.”

Against Dallas College-Brookhaven, both starting sophomores were out for the second match of the day, but the young Lady Indians took it to Bears, who were ranked No. 10 in this week’s NJCAA Division 3 poll.

“With those sophomore starters out, I have to give credit to our freshmen,” said Kobza. “They just need to clean up a few things and do their jobs and we will be in the competition.:
