Matthews Called up by Houston Astros

Former Husker Brice Matthews is set to become the 42nd Nebraska baseball player to reach the Major Leagues after his contract was selected by the Houston Astros on Friday morning.
It marks the first MLB call-up for Matthews, who joins the Astros for this weekend’s home series against the Texas Rangers.
Matthews played in 73 games at Triple-A Sugar Land this season, slashing .283/.400/.476 with 12 doubles, five triples, 10 home runs and 39 RBI.
The Humble, Texas, native was listed as the top prospect in Houston’s farm system this season after being selected with the No. 28 overall selection in the first round of the 2023 MLB Draft by the Houston Astros.
