MONA curator, Hastings College faculty to discuss Nebraska’s ‘State of the Art’

(Hastings, Nebraska) – Hastings College will host “The State of the Art,” a panel discussion with the curator of the Museum of Nebraska Art (MONA) and members of the College’s art faculty on Thursday, October 23, 2025, from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. in Wilson Auditorium on campus. The event is free and open to the public. 

Karissa Johnson, curator at MONA, will discuss "The State of the Art" in Nebraska from a curator’s perspective. She will offer insights into how the collection at MONA’s new facility reflects current artists and contemporary trends with ties to the state.

Joining Johnson are Hastings College art faculty members Brian Corr, Jerome Dubas, Patrick McGuan, Turner McGehee and Rondall Reynoso. Faculty will discuss their current work, creative processes and individual approaches to artmaking.

Following the presentations, the audience will have the opportunity to ask questions and engage in a discussion with the panelists.
