November Traffic Fatality Toll

Dec. 16, 2024 (Lincoln, Neb.) — During the month of November 2024, sixteen people were killed in traffic crashes on Nebraska roadways, according to data collected by the Nebraska Department of Transportation.

¨These 16 fatalities occurred in 14 fatal crashes.
¨Eight of the thirteen vehicle occupants killed were not using seatbelts, four were using a seatbelt, and one had seatbelt usage marked as unknown.
¨ Fourteen of the fatalities were in rural locations*.
¨There were zero fatalities on the interstate, ten on other highways, and six on local roads.
¨Three of the fatalities were pedestrians.

There were 25 fatalities in November of 2023.
Only 53 of the 178 vehicle occupants killed during 2024 were using seat belts.

* The Federal Highway Administration definition for urban is an area with a population of 5,000 or more.
