Troopers on Patrol for Drug or Alcohol-Impaired Driving

April 17, 2025 (LINCOLN, NEB.) — The Nebraska State Patrol is joining law enforcement agencies from across the country in a drug-impaired driving enforcement mobilization this weekend. The effort runs from April 18 through April 20.
This weekend, troopers across Nebraska will be working overtime in an effort to reduce the likelihood of serious injury or fatality crashes. Troopers will be patrolling for all unsafe driving practices, including impaired driving.
“Impaired driving can come in multiple forms,” said Colonel John Bolduc, Superintendent of the Nebraska State Patrol. “Driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs is not only illegal, but it’s also dangerous for yourself and everyone else on the road.”
The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration reports that the prevalence of drug-impaired driving is increasing across the country. In Nebraska, troopers have made an average of 80 arrests for driving under the influence of drugs in the last three years.
This effort is made possible thanks in part to a grant for $10,660 from the Nebraska Department of Transportation – Highway Safety Office.
